In a historic and heart-touching moment for one of India’s most unique tribal settlements, Dhadkai village in Doda district, known as the “Silent Village of India,” witnessed light in a new form—solar lamps reaching homes for the first time.

Under the Prime Minister’s vision of “Har Ghar Roshni” and sustainable development, this initiative marks a new dawn for tribal families who have lived in darkness for generations.

A RAY OF HOPE FOR THE SILENT VILLAGE

The solar lamp distribution ceremony was organized at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex in Doda.
DDC Chairman Shri Dhananter Singh Kotwal and Deputy Commissioner Shri Harvinder Singh, IAS, personally handed over solar lamps to tribal beneficiaries under a CSR initiative in collaboration with Bindi International NGO.

For the families of Dhadkai, this is not just a lamp—it is a symbol of hope, dignity, and progress.

The program was attended by senior district officials including:
DDC Vice Chairperson Smt. Sangeeta Rani,
ADC Doda Shri Anil Kumar Thakur,
ACD Doda Shri Din Mohd Afaqi,
SDM Gandoh Shri Arun Kumar Badyal,
CPO Doda Shri Manesh Kumar Manhas,
District Social Welfare Officer Shri Zubair Ahmed,
CEO Doda Shri Bhushan Kumar Pathak,
CMO Doda Dr. Tanvir Ahmed,
along with representatives of Bindi International NGO and villagers.

 LIGHT CHANGING LIVES

Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh highlighted that renewable energy is the key to transforming remote tribal areas.
Villagers expressed deep gratitude, saying the lamps will allow children to study at night, elders to move safely, and families to reduce dependence on kerosene and traditional lighting.

For Dhadkai, where silence is the language, light has now become a powerful voice of development.

EMPOWERING THE DAUGHTERS OF DHADKAI

In another landmark step, five girls from Dhadkai and other remote villages of Doda will be sent to Rajasthan for advanced skill development training in solar engineering and vocational skills under the Beti Padhao Beti Bachao initiative.

This initiative aims to turn tribal daughters into solar engineers and skilled professionals, creating employment opportunities and inspiring the next generation.

VISION OF PM’S “HAR GHAR ROSHNI”

This program aligns with the Prime Minister’s mission to bring light to every home and opportunities to every citizen, especially in the most remote and underserved regions of India.

The solar lamps represent more than technology—they represent inclusion, equality, and a brighter future.

From darkness to light, from silence to empowerment—Dhadkai village has taken a historic step forward.
With solar lamps in their homes and new opportunities for their daughters, the Silent Village is now glowing with hope and progress.
